- Expression of Interest are invited for Determination of the impact of the mega-drought on emissions due to degradation in the Mediterranean and temperate forest regions of Chile: Compilation of base inputs for estimation. Overall objective Generate the inputs to quantify the impact on carbon emissions resulting from the degradation of native forests as a result of browning and climatic variability related to drought and mega drought. Specific objectives 1. Analyze spatial and temporal behavior of forest cover in forests in the Chilean Emissions Reduction Program (regions from Maule to Los Lagos) and their relationship with drought and mega drought events. 2. Develop maps of forest areas affected by browning derived from hydric deficit or others phenomenon, identifying different forest types and regions. 3. Projecting the browning occurrence in forests in the near future (2021 - 2025) from the variables provided by forced climate projection models under emission scenarios RCP4.5 or RCP 8.6.
